I uploaded my acceptance speech for your viewing pleasure, so if you want to see me preach my insanity to an unassuming audience in a formal setting: well...here you go!
Not bad huh? I even got to take these two beauties home with me:
The conference itself was pretty amazing. I ended up being the highest seller in artist ally, with copies of Edenfrost in particular selling like hotcakes.
I set up quite a fancy booth, with exclusive merch, Puffer Pipe fueled looping video-displays, and extensive sellable comic inventory thanks to a deal coordinated between the event and Mad Cave Studios' sales team.
While the book's popularity in an event named "The Jewish Comics Experience" isn't shocking, many, if not most of the sales could be attributed to the panel I was on.
The panel titled "Jewish Mythology and Fantasy in Adventure Comics" was moderated by Neil Kleid (Nice Jewish Boys, Comixology) and the panelists were me and the Berkowiz brothers (The Writer, Dark Horse). I got a chance to discuss what inspired Edenfrost's creation in its current form. You can view the full panel in below:
The audience surprisingly diverse: Jewish, non-Jewish, religious, agnostic...it was a real mish-mash of comic fans. Given Edenfrost's philosophy and message about "identity", I had no idea how my words were going to land in this forum, but was pleasantly surprised by how much my message resonated with everyone, regardless of their personal views. I consider that one hell of a win.
A talented attendee even sketched me during the panel...how cool is that?!
If you haven't already, read EDENFROST yet, this critically acclaimed, and now award winning book is available for purchase trade paper today in any of the links below:
And if you want some "bonus content", check out the essay I wrote for the Jewish Book Council about this book's creation: "Reimagining the Golem: An icon and omen".
And to that I say...Lechaim!
